Concussion Information

By Information Officer

On May 14, 2009, Governor Christine Gregoire signed a new law requiring greater awareness of potential brain injuries in youth sports participants. Known as the Zackery Lystedt Law, it requires all coaches to attend yearly education clinics on how to recognize brain injuries among youth athletes. It also requires informed consent forms to be signed by all parents and players prior to competition.

Additional information is available from the Brain Injury Association of Washington website.
